Parcel Shelf Hammocks / made to order

Our first batch of SHELVES sold out in under 2 weeks - thanks to everyone who bought one! It'll be a while before we're able to produce more and the cost will increase slightly over this first release. We'll add the shelves to the shop as soon as we have the new batch. Hammocks are available to buy at any time, and are made to order.

Sometimes referred to as a tonneau cover, the hammocks are supplied with cord and instructions on how to attach. The original description of these, written by members of the Pike design team, is as charming as it is informative:
"This optional part is designed by the Parts Division and is a luggage cover attached behind the rear seat. It is made of olive gray vinyl leather woven with rope around a silver steel frame. A special bolt is attached to the body and it can be rotated around the rear axis to load and unload luggage from the rear seat. The woven string is a part that enhances the resort atmosphere."

Details: - Meticulously designed from the original, our shelves are the very locally made result of teamwork by Eden, Mike, Trevor, Mark and John, and are double-powder-coated - also locally, under the skilful watch of Tracey - in a shimmering silver-grey which sparkles in the sun, a fresh upgrade to the original paint.

Sarah has painstakingly reproduced the original 'hammock' fabric design from the pixels up, and has worked with local upholsterer Mark to create the hammocks in two different designs; original Pao fabric and 'Giggles', her own pattern inspired by shapes found in the Pao. They are custom printed on very high quality 700gm waterproof leather-look fabric, wipe-clean, slightly padded, and bonded to a further waterproof lining close to that found on the originals. - Each hammock is finished with a custom woven Pao tag and our own patch on the underside. -

 The marine-grade eyelets are little things of beauty; made of stainless steel, they are smooth, sturdy, resistant to rust, scratching, staining and UV light. Sarah installs each eyelet one at a time by hand, as they would have been in the factory.

(Please note that due to a combination of the ageing of Pao paintwork, different screens, software, lighting conditions and printing methods, the fabric colours can never be an exact match for your car's paint and interior. We have sampled and tested many colours working from the original paint codes, but think of the shades as 'inspired by' the original colours!)
