Who is Inkymole's Motors?
We are Leigh and Sarah, and we've owned ornery, ugly, rare and strange cars all our adult lives.
We've been Nissan Pao owners since 2011, driving and using our Paos all over the UK and Europe, and visiting them in the place they were developed - Japan. Along the way we've amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience of this unusual and rewarding car and its JDM brethren.
We drive our cars daily, from shopping runs and holidays to shows and business trips.
Having run the Nissan Pao Fan Club on Facebook for many years, sharing tips, knowledge, discoveries and resources with fellow owners, we built our business as a means of offering realistically-priced parts and service items alongside unique, custom-created project pieces that you won't find anywhere else. Although Paos are our specialism, we've learnt a lot along the way about the rest of the Pike family: the Figaro, Be-1, K10 Micras and the S-Cargo, both in terms of their differences and their similarities.
Our creative company is Inkymole. Sarah is a professional full time illustrator working for clients across the globe on advertising, publishing, music, screen and editorial projects.
When we needed a way to share updates on our growing car collection, we simply called it Inkymole's Motors - a name for what we do with cars: experimentation, track days, shows and creative modifications, enjoying our cars to the best of our combined abilities!

A location rich in automotive history
We’re based in the dead centre of the UK, ideally placed in the East Midlands - bordering the West Midlands. We’re connected to decades of automotive heritage, in an historically industrious location with the National Motorcycle Museum and the British Motor Museum less than 35 miles away.
Coventry, Leicester and Birmingham are a short drive away, but our base town is steeped in technical and engineering expertise. We make full use of this rich seam of expertise, working with local, experienced engineers, craftsmen and practitioners sometimes within walking distance.
We have relationships in place to get work done at a cost which both honours their experience and creates a realistic price for our projects. In the spirit of the Pike ethic, we work to scale, often in small batches, and allow time for our colleagues to work at the right pace.
Additionally, Leigh has worked for over a decade with a time-served metal fabricator and sculptor from a fine art background who’s helped us realise our visions many times over the years. More usually to be found building enormous public art installations, his vast knowledge of materials, logistics and finishes often feeds into our projects.
Finally, although we always have a very strong vision for everything we do, we allow the people we work with to bring their own input and ideas to the things we produce, making our modus operandi one of collaboration and mutually satisfying processes, with beautifully-made products at the end of it.
